For once we can say that something is made for China and not made in China. If you consider the size of the market in China, and how it is growing, it is no wonder why manufacturers such as Infiniti are building cars to meet that demand and hoping to get a piece of the pie. The side effect is that we sometimes benefit and get access to the models being built for that market. The perfect example is the 2016 Infiniti Q70 L we had our hands on for a few days.
While the exterior look carries over from the 2015 model, it still looks very attractive and fresh. According to Infiniti, “the 2016 Q70L’s LED headlights evoke inner intelligence and human insight.” I don’t know about all of that, but they do make the front of the car stand out. They also put some effort into the look of the grill and it gives the impression of depth, almost 3D. From there it is all curves to a nice-looking rear end with sharp looking taillights and dual exhausts.
Infiniti has done a really good job of hiding the extra length of the car, which has been added starting behind the B pillars. You can certainly tell the difference if you park the L next to a standard version, but otherwise you really wouldn’t know it. The wheelbase of this car has grown by 5.9 inches, of which 5.6 inches go directly to additional rear legroom. Well, we know who the important people are for the Infiniti!
