Travel Tips this Thanksgiving Holiday
Does traveling for the holiday have to be a drag? Whether you’re driving or flying this upcoming holiday, here are a few tips to make things run a little smoother. First of all, if you’re driving out for the holiday studies show that driving out the Sunday before Thanksgiving is the best time to avoid traffic with traffic picking up Monday and Tuesday and reaching its worst Wednesday afternoon and evening. Leaving that early may not be an option for most people, so try leaving as early as possible Wednesday morning, or if you don’t have far to travel consider an early Thursday morning venture.
The same goes for traveling by plane. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday following the holiday are two of the busiest airport days of the year. If you’re flexible and can do it, try booking a flight out on Thursday. You might be able to get away with it since most people don’t celebrate Thanksgiving until later in the evening. And that flight back on Sunday? Expect major delays, congestion and an overall rough experience traveling back home. Again depending on your work schedule if you can handle it, try and book a Monday flight back instead.
