Apple Announces iPhone 8 Release
Apple presented the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus today and it’s less than impressive. The new phone was officially announced and they’re basically just slightly updated from the 7 models.
Included in the upgrades is the ability to wirelessly charge the iPhone 8 and just like the iPhone 7 there’s no headphone jack making the phones only compatible with wireless headphones.
Internally the processor in the model 8 has been upgraded from the A10 Fusion to the A11 Bionic. This is a 25 percent faster processor and should provide new phone owners higher speed performances across the board.
The camera has been upgraded from the 7 models with a 12-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization. The iPhone 8 Plus includes new sensors on the camera and f/1.8 and f/2.8 apertures now. The duel cameras make the perfect camera for “Portrait Lighting” and can produce incredible images. The new settings also boast great videos. Apple executive Phil Schiller even claims the new video settings make the iPhone 8 Plus the “highest quality video capture ever in a smartphone.”
Aside from the new processor and upgraded camera nothing really looks different with the iPhone 8. The design looks very similar to the same it’s looked the last two model upgrades. The iPhone 8 starts at $699 for a 64GB model and 8 Plus starts at $799 for the 64GB space as well. Both models will go on pre-order Friday, September 15 and will release a week later on September 22.
With iPhone 8 ready to release Apple already points to a new design in the iPhone X. The iPhone X is expected to have a larger screen, no home screen button and new face recognizing FaceID feature. Future release dates and specs to be announced.
