Paul Vallas to run for mayor

Former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas announced on Wednesday that he will run for mayor against incumbent Rahm Emanuel. The election is scheduled to occur on February 26, 2019.

“Paul Vallas is not fooling around,” Vallas’ election lawyer, Burt Odelson, told the Chicago Sun-Times. “I believe Paul can find the solutions to help Chicago’s crime, budget and school problems without the gross involvement of politics. He’s in it to win!”

Emanuel, the 44th mayor of Chicago, is seeking a third term in office. Meanwhile, Vallas a Democrat who graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb, will formally file his mayoral bid with the Illinois State Board of Elections on Monday.
