The weekend will bring snowstorm, in a winter that so far has produced little. Starting on Thursday and continuing into Sunday morning, accumulation amounts are still in question. Estimates range from 3-10 inches, which could lead to some travel challenges for Friday commuters.
Weekend events will be affected too, with Saturday morning’s Women’s March downtown likely to be in the middle of a snowstorm. Chilly temperatures will follow the snow, with a low of only 12 degrees forecast for Saturday night.
The precipitation is expected to kick off Friday afternoon and continue through the overnight hours on Saturday into Sunday. Expect delays in the commute home Friday, with dropping temperatures leading to slippery road conditions.
In addition to the snow and cold, windy conditions are expected as well. Gusts of up to 35 mph will make blowing snow a concern and lead to frigid wind chill temperatures. While Chicago has dodged winter for much of the season, it appears that this weekend is shaping up to reverse that trend.
