Rogers Ailes who headed Fox News and recently resigned after sexual harassment charges forced the media company to pay out roughly $40 million is dead at 77.
The former GOP operative to candidates worked with Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush and was a one-time adviser to President Donald Trump. Ailes displayed a mastery of modern messaging early in his career. He became notorious for the negative ads that helped Bush I defeat Michael Dukakis for President. He highlighted the fact that Dukakis was soft on crime and let a convicted killer out of prison to kill again.
His wickedness inside the news room included allegations that he coerced a Fox employee into having sex and then videotaped it, using it as blackmail to force her into an alleged sexual relationship for 20 years.
