The Student Activities Board at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) hosted “An Evening with Ana Navarro” on March 8. Although she is a Republican, Navarro has made recent headlines by announcing her support of the preservation of DACA and criticizing the divide that is gripping her political party.
“It is unacceptable,” declared Navarro while speaking at the University of Michigan. “It is horrible that we are allowing over a million young people who are American in every way but one, some of whom I’m sure are a part of this school community, it’s unacceptable that we are keeping their lives and their dreams in limbo.”
At UIC, Navarro spoke about the “social and political climate right here in Chicago.”
Navarro, who was born in Nicaragua, had once served in the Republican administration of Jeb Bush, and was also the national co-chair of the Hispanic Advisory Council for John McCain. As a Republican commentator, Navarro also appears on CNN, CNN en Español, Telemundo, and ABC’s The View.
