Mother kills son, Chicago law firm sues Catholic Charities

By Nicole Anderson

Mother kills son. Larissa Rodriguez and Christopher Rodriguez from Cuyahoga, Ohio, plead guilty to a number of charges for the death of their mentally disabled five-year-old, Jordan Rodriguez. The couple wrapped the child in bags filled with mothballs as an attempt to keep animals away from his body, placed a pull-up diaper over the child’s head and buried him in a shallow grave in their backyard.

January 15, the Chicago-based law firm, The Deratany Firm, filed a lawsuit on behalf of Jordan, suing Catholic Charities.

Catholic Charities was supposed to provide the Rodriguez family with an array of services because of Jordan’s developmental disabilities. However, the lawsuit alleges that the Catholic Charities employee failed to do her job and complete the household visits as she claimed to have done. Furthermore, the complaint alleges that the same employee committed a “scheme” with Larissa Rodriguez by exchanging food stamps for cash.

This is the second case in the last three months that the Chicago-based law firm has filed on behalf of a deceased child
