The chairman of the Senate intelligence committee said Thursday that ousted National Security Adviser Michael Flynn has not responded to a subpoena about his role in the probe of Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential elections.
Experts told the media that Flynn would probably not turn over personal documents because he would be waiving his constitutional protection against self-incrimination by doing so. Flynn had earlier asked for immunity from “unfair prosecution” in exchange for cooperation with the committee.
The CIA helped derail Trump’s appointment of Flynn as national security adviser because of his alleged ties to the Russians. Flynn is also a target of other congressional investigations.
