Man shot in the head on Facebook Live video is brain dead

The man who was shot inside of a parked car on Easter Sunday around 2 a.m. during a Facebook Live video is brain dead and clinging to life at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston. Devyn Holmes, Cassandra Nickcole Damper and an unidentified male were playing with a firearm for approximately nine minutes while stopped at a Valero gas station. Holmes told the 25-year-old Damper that she was “making (him) nervous.” A man sitting in the backseat then informed Holmes that the gun “ain’t got no clip, bud.” Moments later, Damper accidentally fired a bullet and hit Holmes in the head. Holmes and the unidentified male immediately vacated the vehicle and authorities arrived roughly five minutes later.

“To me, he’s my backbone,” said Kendric Holmes, Devyn’s brother. “To his whole family, whenever problems go down, he’ll be right there to pick us all up.”

Damper has been charged with tampering with evidence and aggravated assault with reckless serious bodily injury. Damper’s attorney, Monique Sparks, announced that she was released on $2,500 bond.
