Time Out, a popular British travel magazine, has just named Chicago as the “world’s best city for having it all” for the second time in a row. According to a news release from Time Out, Chicago “scored highest for its food and drink scene and above average when it comes to happiness, culture, affordability, city pride and how people feel about their neighborhood.”
Based on a survey of 15,000 people in 32 cities across the world, with questions about sex, dining, neighborhoods, affordability, happiness and more, Time Out was able to claim that Chicago takes the number one place, with Porto, Portugal and New York taking second and third.
Although Chicago lags behind when it comes to safety concerns, Time Out has shared some of their specific findings about our city:
• “With new restaurants opening what feels like every day, it didn’t surprise to hear that the average Chicagoan eats out almost once a week. And though there are plenty of options, 36 percent of Chicagoans said they would wait over an hour for a table.
• Despite the sub-zero winters, 89 percent of city-dwellers feel happy overall, making Chicagoans one of the most content populations in the country.
• 57 percent of Chicagoans take a fun trip once every couple of months.”
