Chicago Animal Shelters Rescue Houston Pets
Hurricane Harvey came and devastated Houston and while many people are still scrambling to put together the pieces, the stranded animals of Houston are left alone. That’s where some local animal shelters and agencies are looking to make a difference.
The Anti-Cruelty Society is expecting to receive their first animals in the next couple of days. From there they will focus on placing them in homes here in the Chicago area. The organization already has volunteers and different agencies in Texas rescuing stranded pets and animals. One of these agencies include Wings of Rescue that airlift animals to safety.
Among the animals larger animals are a big concern, because “everything’s bigger in Texas” including dogs that need room to roam. PAWS Chicago also is working with shelters in Houston. The capacity for animals is currently about 700, but there’s usually anywhere from 200 to 300 animals living at the Anti-Cruelty Society at a time.
