CVS Pharmacy Expands Health Services in Chicago Area, Launches New Optical Centers
Chicago area local CVS Pharmacy locations will now offer access to vision services with convenient evening and weekend hours
WOONSOCKET, R.I. – CVS Pharmacy announced the opening of two Optical Centers in the Chicago area, with additional locations expected to open in the area in the coming months. Open seven days a week with evening and weekend hours, the Optical Centers inside CVS Pharmacy provide convenient access to vision services and more than 600 styles of eyewear for men, women and children.
“Pharmacy and health services are at the heart of our company, and there is a natural link between vision health and overall health,” says Morgan Diaz, Senior Director of Health Services, CVS Health. “We wanted to make it more convenient for our customers and patients to have access to quality vision care for themselves and their loved ones.”
According to the CDC, only half of the 61 million US adults at high risk for vision loss have visited an eye doctor in the past 12 months.[i] Optical Centers inside CVS Pharmacy are staffed by Doctors of Optometry up to five days per week who can provide comprehensive eye exams, diagnosis and treatment for eye disease, and contact lens fitting and prescriptions. In addition, Opticians are available every day to provide professional fittings, style consultations, assistance minimizing out of pocket costs through insurance, and free adjustments. Services are available through appointments or via walk-in.
Available services and products include:
Screenings for near and far sightedness, depth perception, color blindness (for adults and children), sports vision assessments, and tests for night vision/glare to help patients understand differences in prescription at day versus night.
All brands of contact lenses and more than 600 styles of frames and sunglasses from fashionable, popular brands for women, men and children including Nike, Converse, Sperry and Nine West, to name just a few.
Free in-store adjustments and cleanings regardless of where glasses were purchased.
The Optical Centers inside CVS Pharmacy utilize the latest technologies to precisely and thoroughly support vision and eye health, including:
Lensometers to digitally measure prescriptions for glasses and contacts, right in the store.
Autorefractors to aid the doctor in determining the correct prescription for glasses or contacts by measuring how light travels thru the eye and to automatically estimate an eyeglass prescription
Visual field screeners to measure peripheral vision and check for possible blind spots in “side” vision, which can indicate presence of eye diseases or trauma such as glaucoma and retinal detachments, and may also help identify specific areas of brain damage caused by stroke or tumor.
Digital Retinal Imaging to assess the overall health of the retina, including screening for diabetic eye disease and high blood pressure.
Digital eyeglass measurement system to provide precise measurements and help customers select their frame by taking pictures and making easy comparisons between styles.
New Optical Centers now open in CVS Pharmacy stores in the Chicago area include:
#3790, Crystal Lake, IL
#8693, Addison, IL
The openings of the Optical Center inside CVS Pharmacy in Chicago are part of an overall expansion of CVS Pharmacy health services this year, which includes the introduction of more than 20 Optical Centers in cities across the U.S, as well as more than 30 Hearing Centers opening in various locations.
