Corporate McDonald’s Ready to Break Ground in West Loop

It’s been a longtime coming since McDonalds announced its move from Oak Brook to the West Loop last year.  McDonalds Corp. announced in June 2016 they’d be moving its headquarters to Chicago’s West Loop in the famous complex formerly known as Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Studios.  Since then, McDonald’s has created an official building plan and broke ground in March.

This week McDonalds Corp. took a big step towards its move when its foundation permits got approved.  With the finalization of its foundation permit approval, construction is expected to begin immediately.

The 12-story, 200,000-square-foot building at 210 N. Carpenter will be the site of a new “vendor village.”  It will be a one-stop shop type of spot with plenty of space for office tenants and over 12,000 square feet dedicated to retail space.

By the time doors open in Spring 2018, the company hopes to host nearly 1,000 employees from both McDonalds and employees from secondary companies.
