Navy Pier will feature sculptures, objects and functional art or (SOFA) for short this weekend in Chicago. Featured as one of Chicago’s longest-running art festivals, SOFA Chicago gives the public access to interactive art and features art from over 80 galleries and art dealers. Most of the pieces are available for purchase, but there’s zero obligation to purchase; most people just come for the sights. If you really want to make the most of your visit you can download the SOFA app “Artsy” to get a preview and guide of the art festival.

The Magic Parlour is a close-up magic show that’s performed in an intimate 40-person room in the Palmer House. The show is now in its sixth year at the location and is a night of complete awe and magic. Tickets for the event include wine, beer and soft drinks and the show is best for adults only or children 12+ to enjoy the fun. Shows are performed five nights a week with three shows on Saturday evening. So fill a special evening with laughter and magic and witness the spectacle firsthand.

The classic tale of The Taming of the Shrew with an all-female cast is performing at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater at Navy Pier. If you’re looking for great theater in a beautiful location, check it out. Chicago Shakespeare is often overlooked when it comes to theater. The Shakespeare Theater in Chicago gives incredible performances time after time and The Taming of the Shrew is no different. Come and see it for yourself!

With as large of a Polish population as Chicago has, it’s no surprise that they host an annual Polish Film Festival. This fest is in its 29th year. Tickets to the screenings can be purchased individually or as passes. Over 70 films are being screened during the fest and most have English subtitles. Opening night is Saturday, November 4, and the fest continues until November 19. Audience members will be able to vote on the most interesting feature during the fest and will receive the “Golden Teeth” award.

This 4th annual Mac & Cheese Fest gives you all the cheesy goodness you could ever want and so much more! While the initial ticket prices might seem like they’re more money than they’re worth, it comes with a lot. The $65 general admission ticket gives you all-you-can eat samples, five drink tickets for beer, wine or spirits and your vote for the best mac and cheese in the place. In addition to the GA offerings, the VIP ticket gets you priority check-in, in-and-out access to the VIP section and a Mac & Cheese Fest official T-shirt. So get a little cheesy this weekend and join the fun.

Have a favorite chili recipe you’ve been dying to try out? Well, than this is your shot! The Art of Life is hosting its 9th Annual Chili Cook-Off and it wants you to participate. The $25 entrance fee covers a team of two to participate in the cook-off. Trophies will be awarded to chilies for Best Spirit, People’s Choice, Best Meat, Best Veggie and Judge’s Choice categories. If you’re more into eating chili than cooking it, your $20 ticket includes unlimited chili, black dog gelato and two beers! Now that’s a deal if I’ve ever heard one. So come and get your chili on! It’s going to be a good time whether you’re cooking or eating.
