The body of an 81-year-old woman was found Sunday in a home on the Far South Side. The body had been dismembered and placed in storage bins. Chicago police said the woman’s real estate agent had been attempting to reach her for several days before he went to her home in the 1000 block of South Forest. The agent noticed a foul odor coming from the home and called the police. Chicago firefighters forced their way into the home and police searched the property. They opened one of the bins and discovered what appeared to be human remains. “Right now we are relying very heavily on physical evidence from the crime scene, assuming she was murdered in this home; we don’t know for sure,” CPD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. Police have not recovered a weapon and no suspects are in custody.
