Chicago Close to 600th Homicide Only Second Time Since 2003

Chicago is close to its 600th homicide of the year. Aside from last year’s deadly year totally 762 murders, this is only the second time since 2003 we’ve seen these numbers. At the same time around this year in 2016, the total stood at 681 murders. Although 600 is a high number, October marked the eighth straight month that gun violence was down overall for the city, making the homicide total nearly 30 percent less than it was in October 2016.

Trump’s threats to send in the Feds hasn’t happened, but he has still remained very vocal about his opinions in the Chicago community especially when it comes to violence and gun regulations in the third-largest city in the country. Trump has described Chicago as a “war-zone” and the city will unfortunately see 600 homicides all too soon. Even though numbers are technically down from last year, the numbers are still way too high.
