Arkansas Gunrunner Sells Assault Rifles to Chicago Gangs
Over Labor Day Weekend undercover police in a sting operation caught 27-year-old Klint Kelley from Arkansas trafficking guns to Chicago gang members. Kelley was arrested in Chicago Ridge on Sunday after driving 10 hours from his home in Malvern, Arkansas with plans to sell eight guns, including five assault rifles, to a convicted gang member.
Kelley grew up in Chicago and moved to Arkansas to get away from the gangs and violence, but it caught back up to him in Arkansas when he agreed to sell weapons to his childhood friend and two-time convicted felon turned informant.
After this 4-month sting operation in the making and arrest police discovered that Kelley had made several runs to Chicago and had likely brought “hundreds” of guns he bought at gun shows or on Facebook to some of Chicago’s most dangerous neighborhoods.
In addition to this bust Chicago Police officers made 140 arrests and seized 110 guns including the eight from Kelley over Labor Day Weekend.
