19-Year-Old Chicago Woman Found Dead in Rosemont Freezer

Rosemont police have reported a 19-year-old woman was discovered dead in a Rosemont’s hotel walk-in freezer on Sunday. 19-year-old Kenneka Jenkins was found dead in the Crowne Plaza Hotel’s walk-in freeze Sunday. Jenkins was at a party at the hotel early Saturday morning, she was reported missing by Saturday afternoon.

An autopsy has been performed, but police have yet confirmed the exact cause of death. Rosemont police believe Jenkins let herself in the freezer where she froze to death. Jenkins mother, Tereasa Martin, told the “Chicago Tribune” that after police told her she let herself into the freezer to die that she believed that would be impossible. Martin claims that if Jenkins had been severely intoxicated it would have been difficult for her to open the heavy freezer door and she wouldn’t have bothered at all trying to get in.

Hotel staff discovered Jenkins body and Rosemont police aren’t currently pursuing this as a murder investigation.
