Fire Damages Homes in Glen Ellyn

A fire broke out in the west suburb of Glen Ellyn this Monday afternoon. At around 1:30 p.m., the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company and other nearby fire departments came to a single-family home after a second box alarm went off, according to Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company.

The fire was blazing in the home in the N 700 block of Forest Avenue and spread to an adjacent home. Firefighters had to use multiple lines of water to extinguish the blaze. One firefighter sustained a minor injury during the fire and was taken to the hospital for treatment, but no other injures were reported. As of 5 p.m. Monday the cause for the fire was still being investigated by the DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force.

Fire crews from surrounding areas including, Addison, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glenside, Hanover Park, Schaumburg, Villa Park, Wheaton and York Center all helped put out the fire. Two homes suffered significant damage, but with only one minor injury reported seems like a win.
